Creating Movies with your iPad Workshop

Introducing iMovie for iPad

The Marquee screen
            Add new
                        Project
                        Trailer

            Watch project/trailer – optional pre-optimization

            Action/Export
                        Youtube
                        Facebook
                        Photo Library
                        Etc.

            Download resources from iTunes
            Import video and photos from other devices using a camera connection kit
            Delete project/trailer

Regular Movie Projects
Library pane (choose content through icons at bottom of pane)
video clips (yellow line shows if they are included in project)
photos
music and sound effects
Tap arrow to move to editing table

Preview pane
            Playhead
            Preview from playhead
            Preview from beginning
            Twist two fingers on a selected clip to rotate

Select Theme (gear on top right) affects
            Default soundtrack
            Transitions
            Title styles
            Fade in and out from black (first and last clips)

Select My Projects icon (top middle with a star) to return to marquee view.

Editing Pane

Playhead
            Play from beginning
            Play from playhead
            Split clip (swipe down)
            Insert freeze frame (swipe up)

Record
            Video
            Photos
            Narration/audio

Clips
            Pinch to zoom in and out
Tap to select
            Tap and hold then drag to reposition
            Drag off editing table to delete
Drag handles to trim
Double tap to open Clip Settings window
Adjust title style and content (spans clip* may have to split)
Enter location
Adjust volume
Delete

Photos
            Drag handles to lengthen/shorten duration
Ken Burns – set Start, End

Audio
            Turn wave view on/off
            Adjust clip volume
            Sound effects (60+)
            Narration
            Theme music included and loops
            Import from Garageband

Transitions
            None
            Cross Dissolve
            Theme
            Duration – some are variable         
            Pinch vertically to open precision editor – move handles

Movie Trailer
Select style
Fill in movie info
Adjust text in titles
Capture Import video clips to match storyboard template elements (video well descriptions)
Export
